Grittenham Barn Events
Havir - Grittenham Barn Fundraising party
Join us for a fun evening with music by Brass Beats and Food by Cooper and Ivy, who are kindly giving their time to support the cause. All profits go to help set up a refugee-run restaurant called ‘Havir’ in Lesvos, Greece where I worked last year for European Lawyers in Lesvos. Salman is an interpreter there and is a Kurdish Syrian refugee who fled Syria in 2016. He has always dreamed of opening his own restaurant and he decided he wanted this project to be an opportunity to create jobs for refugees, especially women from the nearby camps who are often excluded from work. The restaurant will also create a space where locals, refugees and others can come together over food.
I know there are so many important causes needing money out here but this is a unique opportunity to support something small, where I can vouch for the individual (including his excellent cooking skills!) and where the impact can be directly seen, without the funds getting lost in distribution, Every ticket sold will go directly towards helping Salman get this project off the ground. The restaurant is gong to a pizzeria with the name ‘Havir’ meaning ‘dough in Kurdish (هه ڤير).
For more information about the project (or if you want to donate more or can not come but are happy to give) please see the Justgiving page Crowdfunding For Good From JustGiving
